چکیده

Two types of stainless steel microstructured reactors for catalytic gas-phase reactions have been developed and characterized with respect to heir thermal behaviour under non-stationary temperature conditions. One of the reactors used (FTC-I) allowed periodic temperature changes up to 00 K with a frequency of 0.05 Hz. However, a broad temperature gradient of 80 K developed inside the reactor. A second reactor (FTC-II) enabled eriodic temperature variations of maximum 60 K with a frequency of 0.06 Hz while avoiding temperature non-homogeneity. The CO oxidation aken as a test reaction was carried out over a Pt/Al2O3 catalyst in the FTC-II reactor. In this way it was possible to study the effect of non-stationary emperature conditions on the reactor performance. A significant increase in CO conversion was observed with periodic temperature cycling as ompared to values obtained under steady-state conditions. 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Microstructured reactors for catalytic reactions

This review addresses the catalytic reactions performed in microstructured reactors, which are more and more recognized in recent years as a novel approach for chemistry and chemical process industry. They are particularly suited for highly exothermic and fast reactions allowing temperature control and isothermal operation. A brief evaluation of the advantages for gas-phase, liquid-phase, and g...

A Multi-Objective HBMO-Based New FC-MCR Compensator for Damping of Power System Oscillations

In this paper, a novel compensator based on Magnetically Controlled Reactor with Fixed Capacitor banks (FC-MCR) is introduced and then power system stability in presence of this compensator is studied using an intelligent control method. The problem of robust FC-MCR-based damping controller design is formulated as a multi-objective optimization problem. The multi-objective problem is concocted ...

Reaction Kinetics and Mechanism of the Molybdate-Catalyzed Epimerization of Glucose in Aqueous Solutions Using A Microstructured Reactor

In this research work the reaction kinetics of the molybdate-catalyzed epimerization of glucose in aqueous solutions has been mathematical modeled and investigated. Experiments were performed in a microstructured reactor in continuous flow regime. The results show high yield of mannose in the range between 21-27.1%, which exceeds the actual literature data with a ratio 3:1. The kinetic model is...

Chemically-modified cellulose paper as a microstructured catalytic reactor.

We discuss the successful use of chemically-modified cellulose paper as a microstructured catalytic reactor for the production of useful chemicals. The chemical modification of cellulose paper was achieved using a silane-coupling technique. Amine-modified paper was directly used as a base catalyst for the Knoevenagel condensation reaction. Methacrylate-modified paper was used for the immobiliza...

The influence of natural convection on the temporal development of the temperature and concentration fields for Sal’nikov’s reaction, P A B, occurring batchwise in the gas-phase in a closed vessel

Sal'nikov's chemical reaction is very simple; it consists of two consecutive first-order steps, yielding a product B from a precursor P via an active intermediate A, in P→A→B. The first of these steps is assumed here to be thermoneutral, with zero activation energy, whilst the second step is taken to be exothermic with a positive activation energy. These properties make this reaction one of the...
